Abstract

The aim of the SWEET project is a better understanding of the complex physical chemistry of PAH especially when present in high-density regions such as planetary nebulae where they are subjected to intense radiations from the central star(s) of the nebula.

To carry out this research collaboration is initiated between I²M teams MAD CLUSTER of LCAR laboratories LCPQ and LPT. Objectives of the SWEET project are:

1-            Development of a compact and innovative apparatus giving maximum informations on the interactions using different spectroscopic techniques used in coincidence. Experimental results will be systematically and directly compared to theoretical ones.

2-            To exploit codes such as TELEMAN based on the time dependent density functional theory in order to characterize, for short times (femtosecond range), the initial interaction with PAH ions or electrons.

3-            Develop and/or apply to PAH quantum chemistry methods (like DFTB and TD- DFTB) to understand the dissociation processes at the nanosecond scale after the molecular excitation.
