Abstract

Quantum plasmonics aims to develop in ultra-confined geometries the usual concepts of quantum optics by the mean of metallic nanostructures. This emerging branch of Plasmonics opens appealing perspectives in the control of optical phenomenon at subwavelength scale for the transfer and the processing of optical information, taking advantage of the quantum nature of plasmon-polaritons. In order to enter this elementary excitation regime, the different coupling parameters (spatial, spectral and temporal) between a single photon emitter and a colloidal plasmonic structure have to be defined and then carefully characterized. Such hybrid architectures will allow realizing fundamental studies of plasmonic coupling between two qbits , as sub/superradiance experiments and most importantly their quantum entanglement. The development of this disruptive project ( PlasQuant ) will face technological and fundamental challenges that will have to be overcome. It is marked by the necessity to spatially manipulate nano-objects or by the ongoing question about dissipation/decoherence intrinsic link.
