Researchers of the IBM-Zurich Research laboratory, of the CIQUS-Santiago de Compostela and of the NanoSciences Group –CEMES-CNRS Toulouse, have shown it is possible to map the carbon-carbon bond orders within a single molecule of polyaromatic hydrocarbon or within a single molecule of fullerene with a Non-Contact Atomic Force Microscope in which the tip has been functionalized by a CO molecule.
